Postdoctoral Fellow - Immunology, Virology, and Vaccine Development

Position Summary

The Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) at Georgia State University (GSU) invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in the areas of  immunology, virology, and vaccine development . The successful candidate will participate in innovative research aimed at understanding host-pathogen interactions and developing next-generation vaccines.

Responsibilities

• Design, perform, and optimize in vitro and animal studies related to immunology, virology, and vaccine development.
• Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data using appropriate statistical and computational approaches.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
• Contribute to the preparation and writing of competitive research grant applications.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and present research findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences.
• Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, as well as research technicians, in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators to advance ongoing research projects.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Virology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field.
• Extensive research experience in immunology, virology, and vaccine development.
• Hands-on experience with molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques and animal models.
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent research projects.
• Strong data analysis, scientific writing, and communication skills.
• A publication record in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with career stage.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in vaccine design, development, or preclinical evaluation.
• Experience preparing or contributing to research grant applications.
• Previous experience mentoring students or supervising laboratory personnel.
