Cardiology - Heart Failure and Transplant Physician

Locums - New Orleans, Louisiana, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Opening

Start Date: September 1, 2026

Contract Length: Ongoing Need

Coverage Needs: Seeking 1-2 providers for coverage 1-2 weeks per month

Schedule Details:

7on/7off
7am -7pm day shifts + Call (Providers on call for 7 days)
Night call responsibilities included
Two providers scheduled during daytime hours
Night call primarily consists of calls from fellows and occasional physician-to-physician transfer discussions through the transfer center
Providers must be comfortable accepting admissions remotely through the transfer center

Practice Setting: Hospital

Patient Population: Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant patients, including:

Pre-transplant
LVAD
Post-transplant
Other high-acuity cardiac patients

Patient Volume:

15-20 patients per shift for locum provider
30 Total patients on the service - The Locum would be taking call for the service

Facility Details:

30-bed facility
Hospital Stroke Certified
Trauma Level II

Support Staff:

Five APPs
Two physicians during daytime coverage
APPs + Fellows

Call Details:

Call Type: 2nd Call / Back-up
Assigned patients
Admissions required
Phone consults: 2-3 per shift
Facility will accept multiple providers

Credentialing Information:

Temporary privileges available for providers able to start before September
Temporary privileges typically take 30-45 days
Clean background required for temporary privileges
No pending cases accepted for full privileges

EMR: Epic

Requirements:

Required: Board Certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology - Required
Fellowship Trained - Required
Active Louisiana License - Required
IMLC Welcome
ACLS - Required
