About the Senior Buyer Position We are seeking a Senior Buyer to manage the Value Stream, including the preparation and processing of requisitions and the placement of purchase orders for commodities and supplies needed in manufacturing. The role aligns with the Production Planner to ensure materials are available to support the production plan. Responsibilities Place new purchase orders (POs) and follow up on existing POs. Execute tactical processes related to purchasing. Negotiate favorable pricing with vendors and suppliers. Establish contract terms with suppliers and drive ongoing supplier optimization to meet organizational metrics. Manage the supply base, including negotiating, monitoring supplier on‑time delivery (OTD), and forecasting. Identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities. Collaborate with and support production planning and Value Stream to ensure timely delivery to customers. Essential Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5+ years of general business experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years, or a Doctoral degree with 0+ years. Strong organizational, communication, and detailed operational process skills to keep all parties informed of attainment or missing metric targets. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, such as a high volume of suppliers (100+ and parts (average of 700 active parts), and escalating issues as needed. Proficiency with any ERP, Excel, and agility in learning new software. Preferred Qualifications APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CPM certification. Experience in manufacturing, buying, or planning for instrument/accessory products.
