Associate Press Operator (1st Shift)

Simpson Strong‑Tie—engineered structural connectors, software, and solutions—seeks a Press Operator to operate automatic stamping presses, maintain quality, safety, and lean production goals. This full‑time position follows the first shift (Mon‑Thu 6:00am‑4:30pm). It may require overtime based on business needs. Responsibilities Operate automatic stamping presses —support department and company goals (70%) Use powered hand tools —adjust equipment as needed Communicate with leadership —report issues and improvements (10%) Assist with press set‑ups —help associates (10%) Perform quality inspections —evaluate against blueprints and specs (10%) Package and palletize finished product —ensure compliance with work orders (10%) Maintain auxiliary equipment —verify proper operation (10%) Desired Skills and Experience High School Diploma or GED (preferred) 1year of related experience or training (preferred) Consistent prioritization of safety and promotion of a safe work environment Reliable, punctual attendance Ability to stand the entire shift and lift up to 40lbs using proper technique Basic math proficiency Comprehension of written, oral, diagram, and schedule‑based instructions in English Effective communication in one‑on‑one and group settings Measurement skills: tape measure to 1/32″, protractor to ±1°, micrometer, and caliper Problem‑solving ability during manufacturing processes Computer or touchscreen literacy for daily tasks Physical Requirements The role requires standing, walking, seeing, talking, and hearing throughout the shift; occasional sitting is permitted. Operators must stand for 8‑12hours, twisting and bending repeatedly, and may lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50lbs using proper equipment. Location & Compensation Columbus, OH – $16.44–$24.66 per hour (full‑time, non‑exempt). No relocation assistance available.
