Clinical Pharmacist - Pain Management

Jacksonville, NC

Transformational Health Network, Inc. (TrHN) is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Pain Management to support services at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune and associated branch clinics.

This is an opportunity to provide direct patient care, comprehensive medication management, and specialized pain management services while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.

Position Highlights

• Jacksonville, NC
• Services may be required across multiple clinics within a 40-mile radius
• 5 days per week , between 0600–1800
• 8–10 hour shifts
• 30–60 minute unpaid meal break
• Maximum of 80 hours per two-week period
• Schedule provided one month in advance
• Government may adjust the schedule with 72 hours' notice
• No services required on federal holidays
• Advance notice provided for reassignment, except in emergencies

Clinical Pharmacy Responsibilities

The Clinical Pharmacist will provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services focused on pain management, including:

• Medication therapy management and reconciliation
• Pharmacotherapy planning based on physician diagnoses
• Laboratory ordering and evaluation to monitor therapy outcomes
• Initiating, modifying, or discontinuing medications under established protocols
• Managing chronic disease states, including hypertension, diabetes, and anticoagulation
• Monitoring medications requiring pharmacokinetic adjustments
• Providing patient counseling on medication use, adherence, and lifestyle modifications
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and specialists
• Supporting ICU care, pain management strategies, and emergency interventions
• Conducting adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting in accordance with accreditation standards
• Providing clinical education and training to healthcare staff

Pain Management Focus

This position provides specialized clinical pharmacy support for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.

Responsibilities include:

• Participating in multidisciplinary pain management teams
• Conducting medication reviews for chronic pain patients, including those at risk for non-compliance or substance misuse
• Developing individualized pharmacotherapeutic treatment plans
• Providing patient and caregiver education on pain management strategies
• Prescribing therapies in accordance with MTF policies
• Performing or supporting non-pharmacologic interventions, including auricular acupuncture as required
• Participating in telehealth, tele-consults, and tele-mentoring initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
• Graduate from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited program
• Residency/Fellowship accredited by:

• American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)
• American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP)
• Or equivalent clinical training/experience
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the U.S.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency within the past year
• Minimum 12 months of recent clinical pharmacist experience within the last 18 months
• Prior clinical privileges within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) within the past 36 months

Required: Training or experience in pain management

Certifications & Health Requirements

• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, in-person only
• Tuberculosis (TB) screening
• Immunization and health examinations
• Hepatitis B immunity verification or approved exception
• Annual influenza vaccination

Work Environment & Compliance

Services are performed at military treatment facilities and associated clinics.

Candidates must comply with all applicable credentialing, privileging, and federal healthcare requirements.
