  What will I do as a Pharmacist for The Wesley Community?

Our pharmacists play an essential role in dispensing, billing and collaborating with medical providers to ensure pharmacy services are in compliance with state and federal regulations. This position will report to our Director of Pharmacy.

A few of the most common duties and responsibilities required of our Pharmacists include:

● Assume the responsibility of preparing, maintaining and dispensing resident medications.

● Assure that physicians' orders are checked to ensure that residents are receiving medications as ordered by the attending physician. Report errors to the Director of Pharmacy, the Director of Nursing and/or the Medical Director.

● Maintain an adequate liaison with Nursing staff, families and residents as necessary.

● Assist in routinely inspecting nursing medication rooms and carts to ensure the facility is in compliance with NYS long term regulations.

● Dispense, handle, and store-controlled substances (Class 2, 3, 4 and 5) in accordance with State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.

● Assist in maintaining admission review of the drug regimen of each new resident.

● Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Director of Pharmacy as required.

● Assists in reviewing and billing insurance claims.

● Performs assigned duties according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position, and for all staff members of this facility.

 

Pharmacist Requirements and experience:

● Bachelor of Science or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from an accredited Pharmacy College.

● Current unencumbered New York State Pharmacy License.

● Experience in long-term care, in-house pharmacy preferred but not required.
