Quality Coordinator

The Quality Coordinator supports the quality assurance function by performing laboratory testing, monitoring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, and ensuring products meet all specifications prior to release. This role conducts physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations, manages key quality programs such as environmental monitoring, water and compressed air testing, and supports audits and customer-related quality initiatives. The position also assists with new product commercialization, documentation control, and provides coverage for quality assurance leadership when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical, chemical, and organoleptic (sensory) evaluations on raw materials, in-process, and finished products using a variety of laboratory equipment.
• Conduct periodic Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) inspections and sensory evaluations, accurately documenting findings and follow-up actions.
• Assist in compiling quality and statistical data, including reviewing raw material and product specifications to ensure compliance.
• Manage laboratory equipment calibration checks, perform calibrations and routine maintenance, and conduct new instrument capability and validation studies.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for laboratory analysis, data entry, and maintaining the specification repository.
• Assist in the commercialization of new products by supporting testing, documentation, and quality verification activities.
• Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for outgoing orders to verify that products meet required specifications.
• Manage third-party microbiological testing data and ensure positive release of finished goods based on test results.
• Participate in and/or lead projects such as Quality Improvement Plan initiatives and customer-related quality or food safety requests.
• Perform Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) swabs and take on higher-level responsibilities in the EMP as needed.
• Ensure products are manufactured according to specifications through routine product inspections and verification activities.
• Lead the Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) program and oversee adherence to laboratory retain sample storage practices.
• Audit Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) paperwork and consistently follow safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Participate in customer, internal, and other audits, helping to identify and resolve problems and promptly reporting food safety and quality issues to management.
• Provide coverage and support when the QA supervisor or QA technician is absent, assuming their key responsibilities as needed.
• Support response to adverse events such as drain backups by coordinating quality-related actions and documentation.
• Coordinate and maintain the compressed air testing program, including performing testing and ensuring timely completion and documentation.
• Print, collect, and ensure completion of weekly Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) tasks, and close related tasks in the MVP Plant system.
• Perform testing activities such as environmental swabbing, ATP swabbing, and other assigned laboratory or hygiene tests.
• Coordinate and maintain the water sampling program, including collecting samples and sending them to external laboratories for analysis.
• Review and sign off on Operational Hygiene forms and other sanitation paperwork to verify completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain environmental, safety, and quality documentation, and ensure the accuracy of documentation completed by team members, consolidating records into a weekly packet.

Qualifications

• New Graduate in a Scientific Discipline or High School Diploma with experience in quality assurance or quality control, including product release and working with Certificates of Analysis (COAs).

This is a Contract position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
