Summary BHMG Family Medicine - Berea Bonus Available Sign-on bonus is reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria. Job Description The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic. Obtain vital signs, collect patient history, document medications, and manage patient flow. Manage electronic health records (EPIC), schedule appointments, and process medication requests. Handle prior authorizations and coordinate tests and procedures. Perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy upon successful clinical competency. Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency. 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting with direct, hands-on patient care (e.g., vital signs, documentation of patient history and medications, clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections or vaccines). Or graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience as part of the curriculum. Clinical competency assessment upon hire and successful completion of MA orientation; if standards not met, enrollment in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program. Basic computer skills; experience with EMR systems is a plus. Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire. BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP. Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure. Clinical competency assessment and MA orientation requirements as above. Basic computer skills; EMR experience is a plus. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. BAT and DOT certifications required for Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.
