Lead Safety Specialist (Multi-State)

Position: NAMER EAST Lead Safety Specialist Location: New York, On-site Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 annually Overview The Lead Safety Specialist supports the Client’s EHS program, strengthening safety advocacy and ensuring environmental, health, and safety compliance across assigned sites. Responsibilities include day‑to‑day EHS tasks, supporting and reporting to management, auditing, self‑motivating within an existing framework, and project management. The role collaborates with multiple work groups. Special Requirements Have a current passport or be able to obtain one. Able to travel internationally or domestically approximately 25% of the time or more, occasionally with limited notice. Able to work evening or weekend hours when required, such as during an emergency or high‑priority event. Essential Functions Manage EHS programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and client EHS needs. Maintain ISO, OSHA equivalent and/or IAC certification as required. Implement Health and Safety programs at the site level, including but not limited to: Site metrics Regulatory documentation H&S audits and risk assessments Awareness training Incident investigation Ergonomic evaluations Respond timely to additional requests from onsite management. Coordinate the site Emergency Response Team (ERT): Recruit and train ERT members Coordinate quarterly practice sessions Facilitate mandatory evacuation drills with mandatory partners Support infectious disease and public health response as required. Report information to onsite management as required. Respond during after‑hours emergencies. Deploy awareness training to promote safety culture. Maintain site EHS metrics and distribute as required. Collaborate with Security and Workplace to monitor standards and regulations. Process documents and report to program management teams to identify hidden risks or non‑conformity issues. Assist in preparing permits and evidence of compliance with environmental regulations. Conduct regular audits and inspections (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) and submit reports. Track and report progress on health and safety observations resulting from monitoring activities, audits and incidents. Ensure sites have easy access to EHS documentation such as Safety Data Sheet binder and evacuation maps. Schedule and facilitate meetings and webinars using provided technology. Maintain a client service approach to problem‑solving health and safety concerns. Investigate workplace incidents and near‑misses, prepare reports, and recommend preventive measures. Communicate concerns, issues, and recommended resolutions to EHS stakeholders and management. Provide health and safety support for events, onsite and offsite. Travel to other sites as needed. Line manage team members within the assigned area. Inductively manage safety and security officers within the area by assigning and appraising tasks. Support global and regional projects and initiatives as required. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age. Reliable means of communication. Reliable means of transportation (public or private). Legal right to work in the USA. Ability to speak, read, and write English. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Willingness to participate in the company’s pre‑employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in HSE from a four‑year college or university, or sufficient training, experience, or combination to substitute for a degree. Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, local health and safety, and environmental regulations. Direct experience with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is preferred. ISO 45001 management standard experience is a plus. Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and SharePoint. Competencies Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail. Effective time management to deliver projects on time and meet expectations. Ability to receive and act on instruction in various forms. Must ask for clarification when needed. Excellent problem‑solving skills. Competent writer with strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Experience working in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented workplace where judgment and professionalism are required. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach with internal and external customers. Thorough understanding of standard office procedures and practices. Ability to create and revise documentation for varied stakeholders. Ability to thrive in a detail‑oriented environment with quickly changing requirements. Quick learning of unfamiliar areas of business. Independent judgment and decision‑making skills. Clear and concise communication, both verbal and written. Effective interaction at all levels across diverse cultures. Effective teamwork and project responsibility. Strong customer and results orientation. Ability to multi‑task.
