Atlassian Administrator

As a Penske Systems Administrator Atlassian (Atlassian Administrator), you will work with the IT organization, agile practice, and governance teams to support the SDLC and related processes using Atlassian tools. You will research, create, configure, test, administer, and maintain JIRA, Confluence, integrations, and plugins both in the cloud and on‑premise. Your primary objective is the technical oversight and administration of the Atlassian product suite used across IT, working directly with various teams to support, maintain, and build solutions that align with the strategy and growth of the IT organization. Responsibilities Create, manage, and support all administrative functions associated with the Atlassian product suite, including Jira Software and Confluence. Manage user accounts, groups, and permission schemes for projects. Administer Confluence environments, spaces, and security settings. Integrate internal and external services with the Atlassian suite. Provide support for JIRA projects, queries, and reports. Create and maintain custom workflows, screens, fields, and templates, and provide ongoing configuration maintenance. Collaborate with the server and database teams to ensure reliable administration of the servers and Oracle environments that support Atlassian tools. Research, evaluate, install, configure, test, and manage add‑ons, plug‑ins, and extensions. Manage and update software and licenses. Implement Atlassian best practices. Contribute to discussions regarding security, privacy, and governance within the Atlassian suite. Act as the SME for JIRA‑related projects and assess/implement new capabilities across the organization. Troubleshoot and resolve common JIRA application errors. Provide day‑to‑day operational support and participate in strategic planning initiatives involving JIRA. Write custom JIRA Query Language (JQL) queries. Perform additional projects/tasks as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field; if no degree, 1 year of specific administration experience is required. Minimum 1 year of system engineering and IT support experience. Hands‑on experience with the Atlassian product suite. Strong troubleshooting skills. Experience as a JIRA Administrator managing complex projects, workflows, custom configurations, screen schemes, permission schemes, notification schemes, and automations. Knowledge of system security concerns and vulnerabilities. Strong understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies. Experience with JQL, REST, and Groovy. Experience implementing Atlassian plugins. Manage all JIRA enhancements and releases following a formal change‑management process. Comfortable discussing technical concepts with engineers and vendors. Collaborate with support staff, application owners, and users to build solutions and prioritize efforts. Atlassian Certified Administrator preferred. Familiarity with operating systems. Basic understanding of networks, security, and databases. Basic understanding of Linux. Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential. Willingness to travel as necessary, work required schedule, and comply with background investigation, drug screening, and employment application procedures. Physical Requirements Perform reading, verbal and written communication, information analysis, and instruction comprehension. Stand, walk, and sit frequently; use hands for touch, handling, and feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg). Maintain close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus vision.
