Senior Software Engineer II

The Senior Software Engineer II supports business solutions. The purpose of this role is to develop business software solutions for complex and large-scale projects through object and data modeling, database design, programming, quality assurance, and implementation support. The Senior Software Engineer II participates in application standards development and serves as an evangelist for best practices.

What you will do:

1. Perform all stages of the software development life cycle, self-manage activities on smaller projects and serve as technical lead on small, medium and large projects.
2. Determine operating requirements, costs, as well as resource needs for assigned projects and work in conjunction with a project manager on initiatives.
3. Co-lead with Project Manager employing object-oriented analysis and design techniques including use case analysis, object modeling, and database schema design to ensure business requirements and design goals are met.
4. Participate in application architecture planning (including system partitioning and framework design) to determine optimal solution architecture, efficiency, maintainability, and scalability
5. Lead / develop: High-level system narratives, storyboards, and user interface prototypes.
6. Lead / develop: Detailed design specifications for hardware and software use by the technical team.
7. Lead / develop: System test plans, ensure software quality assurance (SQA) standards are achieved, and validate that business goals are accomplished.
8. Lead / develop: Detailed estimates for projects, including resource allocation, timelines, and budget.
9. Develop applications to CDW coding standards and quality.
10. Identify issues that require more attention, and work to resolve issues based on an understanding of the business problem being solved.
11. Make technical decisions to meet the design goals laid out in product road map and by management
12. Coach, mentor and monitor progress of jr. members, mentor & coach
13. Draw appropriate resources together to address technical issues.
14. Direct and focus the efforts of the technical project team.
15. Complete projects/tasks on a timely basis, according to commitments made to stakeholders and management. Report project/task status to the management.
16. Collaborate with business and project teams to gather requirements and business needs.
17. Make technical decisions to meet the design goals laid out in product road map and by management.
18. Identify issues that require more attention, and work to resolve issues based on an understanding of the business problem being solved.
19. Draw appropriate resources together to address technical issues.
20. Direct and focus the efforts of the technical project team.
21. Monitor progress of project teams.
22. Mentor and coach junior team members.
23. Complete projects/tasks on a timely basis, according to commitments made to stakeholders and management. Report project/task status to the management.
24. Step in as team member throughout the software development process as needed

What we expect of you:

• Bachelor's degree and 7 years software development experience, or 11 years software development experience
• Expertise in developing applications.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Advanced knowledge of product lifecycle and understanding of the role of methodology/frameworks.
• Deliver solutions in Agile methodology in CI/CD environment.
• Advanced knowledge of object-oriented design and programming techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain productive working relationships cross-departmentally and cross-functionally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with and present to all stakeholders including senior leadership.
• Strong organizational, planning and creative problem solving-skills with critical attention to detail.
• Demonstrated success of facilitation and solutions implementation.
• Proven track record of leading application development projects.
• History of balancing competing priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
• Expertise in creating applications using technologies such as C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ASP.NET MVC, RESTful Web Services, SQL Server.
• Ability to perform effective code reviews and recommend automated review tools for the team.
• Expertise in MongoDB, a plus.
• Expertise in Azure DevOps, a plus.
• Experience with SOLR and/or Elastic Search, Python, Spark, a plus.
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, logistic regression) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks, a plus.
• Experience in Linux & Windows platform, a plus.
• Working Experience with Azure/Kubernetes, a plus.
• Ability to think through performance requirements for a system and lead optimizing/tuning, a plus.

Pay range: $121,000 - $190,600 depending on experience and skill set

Annual bonus target of 10% subject to terms and conditions of plan
