With different shift opportunities available at hundreds of locations, you won’t need to worry about being home for dinner or getting your child to school in the morning.

The face of First Student, school bus drivers pick up and deliver several hundred children during a normal shift — on time and safely. They are responsible for following all traffic and company regulations to the letter, and they must remain consistently calm and collected in all situations. They also complete daily pre- and post-shift vehicle inspection activities to ensure a safe journey for all riders.

Responsibilities:

• Transport: Safely drive students on established routes and special event trips while obeying all traffic laws.
• Safety & Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency exits) and report mechanical issues.
• Passenger Care: Supervise students while boarding and unloading, and assist with seatbelts and mobility aids when necessary.
• Bus Management: Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions and respond to student-centered incidents.
• Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding delays or behavior

Requirements:

• Age & License: Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license for a minimum of 3 years.
• Drug & Background Screening: Positions are safety-sensitive and subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing (zero tolerance for Schedule I drugs including marijuana).
• Background Check: Successful candidates must pass a thorough background check with no DUIs or histories of harming children.
