Job Description Step into a dynamic role at JPMorgan Chase as a Financial Controller. The Financial Control function is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the firm’s books and records, focusing on the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire business lifecycle. Core functions include MTD P&L reconciliations, balance‑sheet reconciliation and substantiation, GLRS reporting & governance, inter‑entity control and governance, manual accounting/bookings to the GL, and the month‑end close process and coordination. As a Financial Control Associate on the corporate controllers team, you will be responsible for weekly and monthly close P&L reconciliations and balance‑sheet substantiation, reporting controls, and coordinating the month‑end close process. Job Responsibilities Ensure the accuracy and validity of line‑of‑business general ledger balance‑sheet accounts and adherence to the firmwide General Ledger Attestation (GLA) standards. Ensure adherence to P&L and balance‑sheet controls owned by Financial Control, including identifying and implementing opportunities for efficiency. Analyze, communicate, and resolve material variances between the general ledger and upstream systems. Work closely with line‑of‑business controllers, middle office, business managers, technology and operations teams. Understand end‑to‑end flow of trading activities, booking models, product configurations, and trade economics to apply accounting policies and enhance control framework. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of line‑of‑business income statement and balance‑sheet at month, quarter and year‑ends. Act as the financial control subject‑matter expert in line‑of‑business initiatives and projects, proactively identifying process and infrastructure enhancements. Oversee preparation of the firm’s primary financial statements at quarter‑end for use in earnings releases and Securities Exchange Commission filings. Control post‑closing entries and consolidation adjustments and perform various control procedures to ensure the integrity of reported financial results. Manage inter‑company eliminations, a key component of the financial consolidation process. Enhance the overall control environment around the financial reporting function and mobilize change to simplify processes, enhance controls and create efficiencies. Required Qualifications, Skills, And Capabilities Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 3+ years of related experience. General ledger accounting experience. Experience with financial reporting and month‑end close responsibilities and understanding of financial products. Comfortable liaising with business and risk managers. Able to build and maintain partnerships within product‑aligned businesses and across corporate financial, treasury, and accounting groups. Able to understand business drivers and requirements and influence mid‑ and front‑office partners to deliver solutions. Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex processing systems and general ledger interrelationships. Excellent desktop, spreadsheet and database skills. Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, verbal and written communication skills. Able to multi‑task in a constantly changing environment and ability to critically challenge with a goal of identifying control issues.
