Job Location: Swenson Hall 1024 & 1025, other campus locations

Approximate Hours/Week: 4-15

Anticipated Length of Employment: Semester, renewable

Pay: $10 an hour

Job Summary:


Assist students with comprehension of class material and improving study skills in a one-on-one or group tutoring setting. The primary responsibilities of a tutor is to support students to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems. Tutoring supports classroom-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of the tutoring sessions is determined by the student's needs. Tutors work with colleagues and the Coordinator to support their own professional development.


Eligibility: To be eligible for student employment during the Academic Year, a student must be enrolled at least half time at UW-Superior for the current semester.

Required Qualifications:

• Have completed the course (or a level higher) with at least a "B."
• Be in good academic standing with a prior semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 must be maintained. If requirements are not met, the student may be placed on probation for one semester.
• Must be available on Tuesday, September 1st for a full-day training
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and a minimum of four (4) hours per week.

Education:

Must have completed at least one year of college credits prior to starting. Exceptions can be made.
