Director, AI Platform Product Management
- United States - New York - New York City
Pfizer Digital takes immense pride in being at the forefront of innovation, harnessing cutting‑edge smart technology that profoundly impacts the lives of our patients.
Pfizer offers competitive compensation and benefits programs designed to meet the diverse needs of our colleagues.
As the Director, AI Platform Product Management, you lead a defined product, capability, or functional area across the full product lifecycle — from problem discovery through delivery and measurable outcomes. You identify meaningful user and business problems, shape product direction, partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver solutions, and measure impact after release for all business units or therapeutic areas, operating at global scale. In this role, that area is an enterprise AI platform for which you are the single point of product accountability and the primary product voice within its operating model, owning product strategy, the roadmap and the adoption outcomes the platform is judged on, alongside an engineering lead accountable for technical delivery and a digital lead accountable for portfolio‑level direction.
The platform is AI‑native and greenfield, built to serve the teams that build and operate AI agents, in an area where no established internal template exists. You convert evolving AI governance, risk, privacy and security requirements into product capabilities, user journeys, controls and evidence suitable for governance review, spanning agent registration, evaluation and cost tracking. You are therefore accountable for product decisions with limited precedent: where the platform’s boundaries sit, what gating applies, what evidence is required, and what makes these capabilities usable enough that the intended teams adopt them rather than work around them.
You are responsible for a new product or a product supported by four or more Agile teams, and for investment decisions in the range of approximately $5M. You bring a strong blend of strategic thinking, structured problem‑solving, customer focus, and execution discipline, while supporting delivery in contexts that involve some new or unknown GxP requirements. You work across a cross‑functional stakeholder environment spanning engineering, legal, compliance, risk and security, together with the agent‑building teams that use the platform.
You create, own, and evolve the strategic product roadmap aligned to customer needs, business priorities, and measurable outcomes, prioritizing initiatives based on value, feasibility, customer impact, and organizational objectives, and aligning sequencing with delivery capacity and dependencies. For this platform that is a multi‑year direction set while AI governance, risk and security requirements continue to evolve.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Lifecycle & Platform Ownership: Lead a designated product, capability, or functional area from early opportunity assessment through launch and ongoing optimization, owning roadmap direction, prioritization, and product planning. Hold that ownership end to end for an enterprise AI platform as its single point of product accountability, covering product strategy, the multi‑year roadmap and adoption outcomes rather than delivery alone.
Product Definition Without Precedent: Lead product definition for a greenfield platform, developing options and recommendations on platform boundaries, gating, evidence requirements and adoption where precedent is limited, and absorbing predecessor capabilities into a coherent product.
Customer Discovery & Experimentation: Develop deep understanding of customer needs, workflow challenges, and business priorities, and convert research, feedback, usage patterns, and business context into clear product opportunities, including the needs of the teams that build and operate AI agents. Use experimentation, lightweight validation, and AI‑supported approaches to accelerate learning and de‑risk decisions.
Prioritization, Trade‑offs & Outcomes: Prioritize initiatives based on value, feasibility, customer impact, and organizational objectives, making thoughtful trade‑offs across timing, scope, quality, and business value. Establish meaningful performance indicators and use results to inform future prioritization and demonstrate measurable business, customer, and operational impact, including platform adoption.
Cross‑Functional Delivery: Partner with engineering, design, research, and data to ensure solutions are usable, scalable, and aligned, guiding initiatives through planning, refinement, development, release, and post‑launch iteration. Align product requirements and consequential decisions across legal, compliance, risk and security, and lead cross‑functional working sessions that resolve product questions and establish shared ways of working.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate direction, rationale, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders at multiple levels, operating effectively in large, global, enterprise environments, including the product framing and supporting material for recurring enterprise programme leadership discussions.
Compliance‑Aware Delivery: Support product work in regulated or compliance‑sensitive contexts, addressing some new or unknown GxP requirements. Convert evolving AI governance, risk, privacy and security requirements into product capabilities, controls, workflows and evidence suitable for governance review, designed as integrated product capabilities rather than standalone policy requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of product management or related experience (or 7+ years with an MBA/MS, 5+ years with a PhD/JD, or 4+ years with an MD/DVM).
Demonstrated ownership of a product or feature set through multiple stages of delivery.
Demonstrated end‑to‑end product accountability covering strategy, roadmap and adoption or usage outcomes rather than delivery alone.
Experience with AI‑enabled or agentic products, including platforms or capabilities used by the teams that build and operate AI agents.
Working fluency in the technical foundations of modern AI products, including agent tooling, model and system evaluation, and usage or cost measurement, sufficient to set product requirements and test technical trade‑offs with engineering.
Experience translating governance, risk, privacy or security requirements into product capabilities, workflows and evidence, rather than documentation alone.
Experience defining a product where precedent is limited, including making and defending scope and boundary decisions.
Experience partnering across engineering, design, analytics, and business functions.
Track record of using customer feedback and data to shape product priorities.
Familiarity with iterative product development (Agile, Lean, or similar models).
Experience operating in large, global, enterprise settings with distributed teams.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA or master’s degree.
Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
Experience driving adoption of an internal platform or shared capability across independent teams.
Experience establishing AI governance, responsible‑AI or model risk practices in a product context.
Exposure to AI‑supported product discovery and decision‑making practices.
Experience working with teams across regions or time zones.
