Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $195,000.00/yr Role and Responsibilities Independently design synthetic strategies and use those strategies to synthesize and characterize precursor compounds, starting materials, intermediates, reference compounds, and new chemical entities Design small-molecule drug candidates based on in vitro and in vivo biological activity, ADME/PK, physicochemical and IP-relevant data. Purify and characterize molecules with standard analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, LCMS, NMR) Use computation and structural data and information to design molecules Perform research and/or development in collaboration with others in chemistry and biology; make detailed observations and analyzes data. Prepare batch records, technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses Write and review manuscripts for publication Provide support in corporate research and development of patent applications Develop strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectives Uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results Qualifications and Education Requirements PhD in Chemistry plus 5+ years of related experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or equivalent. Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry Must possess expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts. A solid understanding of modern analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, MS) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team Preferred Skills Experience in designing and synthesizing PROTACs or molecular glues is strongly preferred Molecular modeling and computational methods Able to manage outside vendor collaborations Flexibility and willingness to solve problems that fall outside of immediate area of expertise Work independently in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced, often changing environment.
