Practical Nursing Education Program Instructor

Position Overview Practical Nursing Education Program Instructor – Part‑time (29 hrs per week) for the Beazley School of Nursing at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach. Functional Responsibilities Provide instruction, supervision and evaluation of student performance in clinical and lab settings. Supervise and evaluate groups of students (usually 6‑10) in hospital or health‑care settings. Understand the objectives of the assigned course and be familiar with the nursing curriculum. Maintain a collaborative and positive relationship with the clinical site, other faculty, and staff. Perform work during the day, evening, and/or weekend as determined by the assigned courses. Maintain student records, including accurate clinical hours, and sign off at the end of each clinical day. Meet and communicate with students regularly to provide academic feedback. Accurately complete clinical paperwork. Participate in all mandatory trainings and/or meetings required before and during the semester, including site‑specific orientation. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's / Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. Current, unencumbered RN license or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia. Minimum of 5 years recent full‑time, clinical RN experience. Medical or surgical nursing experience required. Qualifications are aligned with the Virginia Board of Nursing requirements for instructor positions. Additional Considerations Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution (preferred). Knowledge of and experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Proficient technology skills to work productively with instructional technology resources.
