Make a real impact in the lives of students by providing specialized support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a full-time contract basis in the Denver area. Work across a district serving students from early childhood through high school, offering essential services and expertise to help each learner thrive.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Department of Education certificate with an endorsement in “Special Education Specialist – Visual Impairment (ages 0-21)”
- Master’s (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in special education: visual impairment or its equivalent
- Experience administering and interpreting vision-related assessments
- Background in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Preferred: Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification
- Commitment to complete the full academic year (July 31, 2026 – May 26, 2027)
- Willingness to complete district background check and fingerprinting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct and interpret functional vision and Expanded Core Curriculum assessments
- Determine eligibility for visual impairment services and design student-specific IEPs
- Deliver targeted instruction and support to students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities
- Adapt classroom environments and materials to ensure accessibility
- Provide orientation and mobility training within school and community
- Collaborate with families, educators, and district staff to align services and ensure compliance
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing team communication
- Remain flexible to district-based assignments, serving various age groups and campuses
