Job Description

We're looking for Food Service Assistants who take pride in providing meals that support patient health and comfort. In this role, you'll help portion and serve food for patients and staff, assist in maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation, support food preparation and storage activities, and contribute to a positive dining experience. We value teamwork, attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to safety, and we're excited to welcome team members who bring these strengths to our Dietary Services team.


Key Responsibilities

• Portion food for patients and staff

• Wash dishes and maintain kitchen cleanliness

• Store food and supplies properly

• Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines

• Perform other related food service duties as needed

Collaborative Teamwork

This role involves working closely with our dietary and clinical teams to ensure high-quality meal service and contribute to a clean, efficient, and supportive kitchen environment.


Qualifications

• Completion of Basic Food Handler's Course within 30 days of hire (per Kern County Environmental Health Services requirements)

• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Previous food service experience, particularly in a healthcare setting, preferred but not required

• Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with our patients, families, coworkers, and community
