Dermatology Associates of West Michigan, a well-established and busy dermatology practice located in Grand Rapids, MI wants to add a Billing Supervisor to our dynamic practice! Our growing practice includes 8 physicians and 7 advanced practice professionals.

We are hiring a Billing Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day billing and follow-up team while fostering a great work environment. The Billing Supervisor must have the ability to multitask, problem solve, and have extensive knowledge of various types of medical insurance plans, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS and coding guidelines. It's important to know how to talk kindly and with understanding to patients and team members. This position reports directly to the Operations Director.

We would consider the position performed remotely after a year.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct oversight and supervision of the Billing Office team
• Work with training and developing staff that are knowledgeable about billing but are not "billers"
• Monitoring accounts receivable, developing target A/R levels and implementing processes to achieve the targets
• Monitoring insurance contracts to ensure payments received are consistent with contracted fee schedules.
• Concrete understanding of rules and regulations for Medicare billing
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines
• Posting payments from patients/insurance companies and posting related contractual adjustments.
• Monitor automated payment and adjustments for accuracy.
• Process denials for reconsideration by insurance company and/or transfer to patient responsibility as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Special Skills Required: Great phone etiquette, excellent patient service, team building and development, process creation, and advanced problem solving, data analytics, and Microsoft Excel
• Required Qualifications: Must have at least five (5) years of team lead or supervisory experience. Must also have at least four (4) years of previous medical billing experience and a complete understanding of how to maintain all aspects of the revenue cycle. Two (2) years of college required, but certifications and experience may substitute.
• Preferred Qualifications: Dermatology/Mohs experience and comfortable working with electronic medical records preferred. We use Modernizing Medicine- EMA. Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field also preferred. Candidates who have earned certifications through the AAPC (Certified Professional Biller "CPB", Certified Professional Coder in Dermatology "CPCD") or Inga Ellzey will be highly considered.
