Manual Machinist

$23 - $30 per hour

Techwood precision

Job Description

Job Description

Job Posting: Manual Machinist — Techwood Precision (Macon, GA)

Pay Range: $23–$30/hr depending on experience Experience Required: 8+ years in manual machining

Techwood Precision is not interested in average machinists. We’re not looking for someone who “gets by,” someone who needs babysitting, or someone who thinks manual machining is a dying skill. We want the machinists who still take pride in craftsmanship, who know how to make a machine sing, and who understand that precision is earned—not guessed.

If you’re tired of shops that don’t respect real machinists, tired of leadership that doesn’t listen, tired of chaos, confusion, and disorganization—this is your chance to join a company that actually runs the right way.

Techwood Precision operates on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) . That means clarity, accountability, structure, and a team that actually works together. You won’t be stuck in a shop where nobody knows what’s going on. You’ll be part of a company that is building something bigger—something designed to last.

And you won’t just be a machinist here. You’ll be part of shaping the future of the trade for the next generation of machinists .

If that doesn’t excite you, this isn’t your shop. If it does, keep reading.

Position Overview

You will take full ownership of machining high‐precision components using manual mills and lathes. We expect mastery, not mediocrity. You’ll work on challenging parts, tight tolerances, and jobs that require real skill—not repetitive production work.

You’ll also participate in EOS meetings, help identify issues, propose solutions, and contribute to building a stronger, smarter, more efficient company. Your voice will matter here.

This is a role for someone who wants to leave a mark—not just punch a clock.

Detailed Job Duties

  • Machine setup & calibration — Perform complete machine setup, tramming, alignment, and calibration with confidence and precision

  • Tooling selection & installation — Choose proper cutters, inserts, collets, arbors, and workholding based on experience, not guesswork

  • Precision workholding — Build fixtures, modify soft jaws, and create rigid setups that eliminate chatter, taper, and dimensional drift

  • Blueprint interpretation — Read complex drawings, GD&T, and multi‐operation sequences without hesitation

  • Manual machining operations — Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, contouring, and slotting with expert‐level precision

  • Feeds & speeds optimization — Adjust cutting parameters to maximize tool life and maintain tolerance

  • Material machining — Machine steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, plastics, and specialty alloys with mastery

  • Precision measurement — Hold tolerances down to ±0.001" or tighter and verify with proper inspection

  • Quality documentation — Record measurements, complete inspection sheets, and maintain traceability

  • Machine maintenance — Keep machines clean, lubricated, and performing at peak accuracy

  • Troubleshooting — Diagnose chatter, taper, tool wear, vibration, and finish issues quickly and correctly

  • Process improvement — Suggest improvements based on real experience, not theory

  • Independent workflow management — Manage multiple jobs and maintain productivity without supervision

  • EOS participation — Attend Level 10 meetings, help identify issues, contribute solutions, and support continuous improvement

  • Mentorship mindset — Help build a shop culture that trains and inspires the next generation of machinists

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of professional manual machining experience

  • Expert proficiency with manual mills and lathes

  • Ability to consistently hold tight tolerances

  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, materials, and machining strategies

  • Must supply your own professional tools

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs

  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship

  • Reliability, punctuality, and pride in your work

  • Willingness to participate in EOS and continuous improvement

If you don’t meet these standards, this isn’t the job for you. If you do, you’ll thrive here.

Why Machinists Want to Work Here

  • You’ll work on real machining challenges , not mindless production

  • You’ll be trusted to use your experience—not micromanaged

  • You’ll be part of a company that actually runs on EOS , not chaos

  • You’ll help shape the future of the shop and the next generation of machinists

  • You’ll work with people who respect craftsmanship

  • You’ll be in a clean, organized, well‐equipped environment

  • You’ll be respected for your skill, not treated like a number

This is the shop serious machinists want to be in. The shop where your skill is recognized. The shop where your voice matters. The shop where your work builds the future.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay: $23–$30/hr , based on experience and skill level

  • Opportunities for performance‐based raises

  • Full‐time, stable schedule

  • Clean, organized shop environment

  • Supportive team with decades of machining experience

  • Opportunities for advancement

  • EOS‐driven structure, clarity, and accountability
