Job Summary
The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service equipment in a nursing home environment. This position supports dietary staff by ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen while complying with health, safety, and infection control regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, silverware, trays, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, sinks, floors, walls, and equipment.
- Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and dining areas.
- Maintain proper sanitation standards according to federal, state, and facility regulations.
- Assist with receiving and storing food and supply deliveries.
- Restock clean dishes, utensils, and supplies as needed.
- Follow infection control, safety, and hazardous material procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and supply shortages to supervisors.
- Support dietary staff with basic food service tasks as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Interact respectfully with residents, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous dishwashing, food service, or healthcare experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift up to 3050 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals
