Alternative Family Living / AFL

Open your home to provide an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities a unique opportunity to live with a family unit. AFL living enables a person to live in a private home with a family and receive 24‑hour supports and habilitation. *Candidate should live near/in the Davidson County area*. We are seeking a person interested in becoming an Alternative Family Living (AFL) Provider in North Carolina. As an AFL provider, you will welcome an individual who possesses intellectual developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges to live with you. You will offer a stable and caring home where they can grow, practice daily living skills, and integrate into the community toward independence. Depending on the individual’s needs, they may attend a day program or receive other services in addition to the residential support you provide. Responsibilities Provide round‑the‑clock care and support for an individual with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Assist with daily living skills, medication management, meal preparation, hygiene, and community participation. Coordinate with local agencies and service providers to ensure the individual’s goals are met. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to care plans and progress. Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment. Qualifications CNA or DSP experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting people with disabilities. Ability to live or have a residence in the Davidson County area.
