PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST – Youth Partner Location: John Day, OR FLSA: 1 FTE Non‑exempt (expectation to work 40 hours per week) Pay Grade: B06 ($20.96 - $29.38 hourly, depending on experience) $5,500 Hiring Bonus Available (Taxed & paid out in 2 payments) Benefits: Health, dental and vision insurance 6% initial 401K match Potential for tuition reimbursement Generous paid vacation, floating holiday, community service day, mental health days, paid holidays, etc. Employee Assistance & Wellness Benefits Responsibilities Provide peer counseling and support, drawing on common experiences as a peer. Validate clients’ experiences and guide and encourage them to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery; serve as a mentor to promote hope and empowerment. Ensure accurate, timely and complete documentation of all clinical documents and subsequent data entry when required. Help clients and family members identify, understand, and combat stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and develop strategies to reduce self‑stigma. Increase awareness of and support client and family participation in consumer self‑help services and programs. Assist the supervisor to organize and lead rehabilitative individual and group activities. Participate in clinical meetings to discuss client progress and goals, when requested. Participate in clinical supervision as requested. Provide support to clients in crisis by spending time with them in their home or at an emergency room or office setting; provide peer support services working in tandem with clinicians until the crisis is resolved or alternative placement options are secure. Provide transportation to clients when clinically recommended to assist client in accessing services. Other duties as assigned. Education And/or Experience No minimum education or experience required. Certifications Attended a peer support conference/training; work toward Peer Certification in Oregon. Other Skills and Abilities Effective oral and written communication. Ability to develop positive working relationships with team members, co‑workers, community partners, and the public. Ability to represent CCS within the community and at state or regional meetings, including public speaking. Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to adhere to confidentiality laws and expectations. Ability to work independently, without constant and strict supervision. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to arrive at work on time and follow direction from a supervisor. Good typing skills and knowledge of basic office software programs. Effective written and oral communication for internal and external audiences, ranging from routine to complex and confidential information. Criminal Background Checks Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 410‑007‑0200 through 410‑007‑0380. Monthly checks against OIG and GSA exclusion lists; exclusion or sanction results in immediate termination. Pre‑Hire Drug Screen Required Required. Personal Auto Insurance Must hold a valid driver's license and personal auto insurance for privately owned vehicles used for CCS business purposes. Proof of liability coverage: $300,000 or more for bodily injury and $100,000 or more for property damage, maintained for the duration of employment. CCS reserves right to deny use of vehicle owned by CCS. Physical Demands Use of computer and phone system with fine manipulation, grasping, typing, and reaching; regular sitting while reviewing reports and talking on phone. Occasional lifting up to ten (10) pounds. Occasional reaching, bending, kneeling, and squatting to adjust equipment or retrieve supplies. Ability to participate in vehicle travel between business offices, client homes, and required meetings and/or trainings. Work Environment Work performed in office settings and various community settings such as schools, client homes, hospitals, jails, other public agencies and community groups. Noise typically moderate; may be exposed to loud noise and alarms. Exposure to everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places.
