The organization is entering a new era under local ownership and will return to Lee's Family Forum for the January 2027 season. Our goal is to build a high-energy, community-connected organization that grows women's professional sports and creates an exceptional experience for fans, partners, players, and employees. Position Summary The Vegas Thrill is seeking a qualified and highly dependable Certified Athletic Trainer to oversee the daily health care, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support of our professional volleyball players throughout the season. This is a seven-month seasonal position with an anticipated schedule averaging six days per week and approximately five to six hours per day. The Athletic Trainer will attend every team practice, normally five practices per week for a minimum of three hours each, and will provide additional time before and after practice for treatment, rehabilitation, documentation, and player care. The position also requires coverage of all home matches and travel with the team to 13 regular-season away matches. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with the Head Coach, General Manager, team physician and other medical providers, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and volleyball operations staff. This individual will serve as the team's primary day-to-day health care professional and must communicate clearly while protecting player confidentiality and operating within the athletic trainer's licensed scope of practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Practice and Match Coverage:
- Attend and provide athletic training coverage for every team practice, normally five days per week for a minimum of three hours per practice.
- Arrive sufficiently before practices and matches to prepare the athletic training area, evaluate players, provide treatment, and complete taping or bracing.
- Remain available after practices and matches for injury assessment, treatment, recovery support, rehabilitation, and necessary documentation.
- Provide athletic training coverage for all Vegas Thrill home matches at Lee's Family Forum.
- Travel with the team and provide athletic training coverage for 13 regular-season away matches, including related practices, shootarounds, and travel days.
- Maintain emergency readiness and respond appropriately to acute injuries, illnesses, and medical situations during practices, matches, and team travel.
- Develop and implement injury-prevention strategies appropriate for professional volleyball athletes.
- Evaluate and manage acute and chronic athletic injuries within the athletic trainer's licensed scope of practice.
- Provide taping, bracing, therapeutic modalities, manual techniques, and other appropriate treatments.
- Recognize conditions requiring physician evaluation, diagnostic testing, specialist care, or emergency treatment and coordinate referrals promptly.
- Monitor player health, soreness, fatigue, workload concerns, and physical limitations throughout the season.
- Communicate participation status and medically appropriate restrictions to designated team personnel while maintaining required confidentiality.
- Design, supervise, and document individualized rehabilitation programs for injured players.
- Provide rehabilitation and treatment outside scheduled practice hours as needed to support timely and safe recovery.
- Coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-performance progressions with the team physician, other treating providers, and Strength and Conditioning Coach.
- Track player progress and recommend appropriate practice modifications, workload restrictions, or return-to-play progressions.
- Follow physician instructions and all applicable medical protocols when managing restricted or injured players.
- Support continuity of care when the team is traveling or when a player receives treatment from an outside provider.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for player health and sports medicine matters.
- Work under the direction of the designated team physician and collaborate with orthopedic, primary-care, imaging, physical therapy, and other medical providers.
- Maintain and regularly review venue-specific emergency action plans for practice and competition locations.
- Ensure appropriate emergency supplies, athletic training equipment, and medical materials are available and properly maintained.
- Coordinate medical appointments, diagnostic testing, follow-up care, and communication with approved providers when authorized.
- Assist with league-required medical procedures, injury reporting, physical examinations, and medical documentation.
- Maintain timely, accurate, secure, and confidential medical records for all players.
- Document evaluations, treatments, rehabilitation sessions, referrals, restrictions, participation status, and return-to-play progress.
- Maintain current emergency contacts, medical histories, physician instructions, and other required health information.
- Follow applicable laws, professional standards, league requirements, and team policies governing medical information and health records.
- Share medical information only with authorized individuals and only to the extent permitted or required.
- Provide the Head Coach and General Manager with appropriate player-availability updates, limitations, and anticipated timelines.
- Coordinate daily with the Strength and Conditioning Coach regarding workload, recovery, rehabilitation, and return-to-performance plans.
- Participate in player-status, performance, and medical meetings when requested.
- Build professional, trusting relationships with players while maintaining appropriate clinical judgment and boundaries.
- Communicate emerging concerns before they affect player welfare or team operations.
- Travel with the team for 13 regular-season away matches and related team activities.
- Prepare, pack, transport, and maintain medical kits, emergency supplies, taping materials, medications permitted under team policy, and rehabilitation equipment.
- Coordinate with host-team athletic trainers, venue medical personnel, hotels, and local providers when care is needed on the road.
- Provide treatment, recovery support, injury evaluation, and emergency coverage throughout team travel.
- Account for all medical equipment and supplies before departing each location.
- Current Board of Certification credential as a Certified Athletic Trainer required.
- Current Nevada athletic trainer license required by the position start date, with continued good standing throughout employment.
- Current CPR and AED certification, including emergency cardiac care appropriate for athletic health care professionals, required.
- Professional, collegiate, national-team, or other elite-sports athletic training experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with volleyball players or athletes in an explosive, jumping-based sport strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating injuries, providing treatment, developing rehabilitation programs, and supporting return-to-play decisions.
- Strong understanding of emergency care, concussion management, injury prevention, rehabilitation, documentation, and professional standards of practice.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, medical providers, coaches, performance staff, players, and team operations personnel.
- Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive player health information appropriately.
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and changing hours based on the practice, match, and travel schedule.
- Ability and willingness to travel for all 13 regular-season away matches.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work on-site in the Las Vegas/Henderson area.
- Place player health, safety, and long-term well-being at the center of every decision.
- Be prepared, accessible, dependable, and consistently on time.
- Provide professional and organized care before, during, and after practices and matches.
- Communicate player status and potential concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential medical records.
- Work collaboratively with the coaching, medical, performance, and volleyball operations staffs.
- Remain calm, decisive, and solutions-oriented during injuries and medical situations.
- Represent the Vegas Thrill with professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and a team-first attitude.
