Medical Technologist I/II Job No: 539987 Work Type: Full Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Department: 32060000 - PH-PHARMTHERAPY TRNSL RSCH Job Summary: The College of Pharmacy Infectious Disease Pharmacokinetics Lab (IDPL) seeks a Medical Technologist to perform routine and non‑routine tests for drug assays and provide accurate results. The position will be filled as either a Medical Technologist I or II depending on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities Perform as directed routine assays for clinical application. Report lab results via laboratory information system (LIS) or other computer systems; recognize unusual, discrepant or implausible results and work with supervisor to validate correct results. Follow guidelines to troubleshoot and correct assay problems or instrument malfunctions; perform maintenance and assist with QC or instrument troubleshooting. Participate in CAP proficiency or defined in‑house proficiency program. Perform directed safety compliance and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed. Takes an active role in Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI); help gather data for QA/PI projects and perform quality control testing in all areas. Perform other related duties, including special projects as required; stock supplies and equipment; correct errors; photocopy and data entry as needed. Qualifications Required: Medical Technologist I: Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated. Medical Technologist II: Licensed as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and two years of appropriate experience. Requires FL Medical Technologist license. Preferred: Experience with HPLC or mass spectrometry. Proven interpersonal, communication, organizational and supervisory skills. Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
