Clinical Research with Novel Technology Development Postgraduate Research Fellowship

About the Role The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) is offering a postgraduate research fellowship in medical technology and software technology support applications at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA). Responsibilities Support various projects utilizing software engineering, human factors usability evaluation, and design/visualization for medical clinical decision‑support systems. Conduct testing and evaluation of mixed reality and virtual reality headset applications. Gather data on software application usability and clinical performance testing. Develop, implement, and execute research studies. Evaluate software and hardware integration of medical sensors/devices with headsets. Learn proper use of medical devices used for research and technology demonstrations. Document findings, results, and technical processes in detailed reports and presentations. Disseminate research through scientific journals, presentations, and technology demonstrations. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Science, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another eligible discipline. Experience with data collection under good laboratory practices. Experience in support applications research. Experience in medical simulation scenarios and studies. Familiarity or knowledge of XR hardware platforms such as HoloLens, Quest, Vive, etc. Eligibility Requirements Citizenship: LPR or U.S. Citizen. Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s received within the last 60 months. Discipline(s): Computer, Information, and Data Sciences Artificial Intelligence (including Robotics, Computer Vision, Human Language Processing, and Machine Learning) Computer Science (general) Data Science Information Science and Technology Software Engineering Life Health and Medical Sciences Veteran Status: Veterans Preference if degree received within the last 120 months. Benefits and Provisions Stipend: $64,000–$69,200 annually for post‑Bac; $75,000–$81,100 annually for post‑Master’s. Health Insurance Supplement (eligible participants may purchase health insurance through ORISE). Relocation Allowance. Training and Travel Allowance. Location Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Texas. Start Date Appointments to begin immediately upon selection. Exact start dates are determined in coordination with the selected candidate.
