Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a permanent staff member. Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse specialized in Emergency Room care. The unit will accommodate 29 beds. All acuity levels of patients are expected, including infants and those nearing end of life. The ER handles a range of cases, from MedSurg and Stepdown to ICU. Traumas that require advanced intervention are stabilized and transferred to external facilities. Common patient conditions include STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, stroke requiring interventions, and more. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4, or 1:5 in fast-track areas. Experience with ventilator management and critical care drips or titration is essential. The role includes cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring arterial and central venous lines. Competency in stroke experience, including TPA administration, is required. The nurse must also be skilled in conscious sedation and conducting suicide risk assessments. An EKG competency exam must be passed prior to arrival. Resource support on the unit varies depending on staffing. Charge nurses may take patient assignments. ED physicians are available 24/7. The charting system used is Meditech Expanse, with Alaris for IV pumps. There is no floating between units. The scheduling rotation includes weekends every other week. Mandatory work includes 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Requests for Time Off are allowed up to 7 days, with restrictions on weekends. Working during 2 to 3 major holidays is required. Professionalism is a key requirement; cell phone usage in patient care areas is not permitted. Travelers should adhere to uniform guidelines, which include designated scrub colors and T-shirt specifications.
