Engineering Supervisor

Maintenance Engineer Supervisor Wurzak Hotel Group, a part of the Dalmar & Element Hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer Supervisor to perform interior and external preventive maintenance along with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs. The role includes responding to engineering service calls, promptly reporting emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing items, damage, and safety hazards to management, and ensuring quality, timely service that impresses guests. The company operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, requiring variations in shift days, start and end times, and weekly hours. General Requirements Perform interior and exterior preventive maintenance and repairs including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Respond promptly to elevator breakdowns and maintain accurate maintenance records. Handle engineering service requests in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner. Use engineering supplies and tools properly. Maintain all engineering and work areas in an orderly and clean condition. Promptly report all emergencies, injuries, missing items, damage, mechanical problems, and safety hazards to engineering management. Document all parts used and parts needed to be purchased. Perform special projects and assist with task forces and committees as requested. Demonstrate a consistent professional and positive attitude when communicating with guests and associates. Ensure maintenance problems are promptly reported through proper channels. Comply with all company policies, procedures, sanitary, safety, security, and emergency procedures. Write shift reports, including incidents of theft, accidents, or injuries when assigned. Check with manager or supervisor before leaving a work area. Be on time and present at work when scheduled, wearing proper uniform. Attend departmental meetings as scheduled. Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction. Report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other significant matters to management. Complete other tasks or duties as requested by management. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED with training in building maintenance. Three or more years of experience in building maintenance or a related field. Experience in the hospitality industry preferred. Ability to provide friendly guest service. Understanding and compliance with preventive maintenance and repair policies, procedures, and brand standards. Proficiency with engineering tools and supplies. Ability to complete assignments timely, investigate issues, and resolve basic maintenance and engineering matters. Follow appropriate course of action based on policies and procedures. Consistently professional attitude, effective listening, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, efficient, and handling competing priorities. Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and efficient time management. Availability to work different hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Working Conditions & Physical Effort Physical work is a primary part of this job, performed inside and outside with equipment, machines, and/or motor vehicles. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Operators must follow basic safety precautions and wear protective equipment. Physical requirements include extended walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 100 pounds. The position may require operating a motor vehicle.
