Packaging Sourcing and Commercialization Specialist

Protein Research is seeking a Packaging Sourcing and Commercialization Specialist to lead the sourcing, qualification, specification, and commercialization of packaging components for new and existing products. This is a highly cross‑functional, customer‑facing role that works closely with R&D, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, suppliers, and customers to ensure packaging is fit for use, protects product quality, supports manufacturing efficiency, and is ready for pilot and commercial production. What You'll Do Source packaging components and manage supplier communication on pricing, lead times, samples, and documentation Create packaging specifications and support packaging approval for new and re‑sourced components Serve as the internal packaging subject matter expert for commercialization, testing, and supplier qualification Partner with Production and R&D to ensure packaging works for product requirements and equipment capabilities Finalize finished product packaging specifications in collaboration with R&D, Quality, and customer Manage packaging‑related project timelines and follow‑up in Wrike (project management system) Support packaging purchasing, ETA tracking, freight coordination, and inventory oversight Maintain internal packaging reference tools and standards Attend pilot meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings related to packaging Identify packaging innovations, market trends, and sustainable solutions to expand customer offerings Meet with Packaging Suppliers and attend trade shows and educational events to extend knowledge and partnerships What We're Looking For 3+ years of packaging experience ( food manufacturing preferred ) Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills Experience with ERP/Project Management/TOPs systems Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment Supply chain or sourcing experience is a plus If you enjoy combining technical packaging knowledge, supplier strategy, project management, and operational execution, this is an opportunity to play a key role in bringing products from pilot to production while helping shape the future of packaging at Protein Research.
