Job Title: Labor and Delivery RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BCLS and NRP required; AWHONN Intermediate preferred Must-Have: Experience in all aspects of labor and delivery, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. Willingness to float to units outside of labor and delivery to support patient care. Description: The Labor and Delivery RN will work in a critical access facility. This position requires caring for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum. Nurse ratios are 1:3 during the day and 1:2-3 during the night shifts. Weekend work is required, and candidates will work every weekend. Experience with fetal heart monitoring and IV starts is necessary. Charge nurse experience is preferred. The average daily census is between 1 and 2 patients. The RN will assist with various tasks such as vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and discharge teaching. Candidates must be able to perform assessment and management of newborns, including newborn hypoglycemia care. The RN will participate in triaging obstetrical patients and utilizing external fetal monitoring. Certification in BLS and NRP is required, and AWHONN Intermediate certification is preferred. The RN must be comfortable floating to other units to help support patient care when necessary.
