Seasonal Team Member

The Seasonal Team Member is a key contributor to the execution of a successful harvest by ensuring that equipment, work areas, parts, and facility grounds remain clean, organized, and sanitary. Corto Harvest is a 24/7 operation from mid-October up to early December. The ability to work any shift, at least 6 days per week and up to 12 hours as needed is required.

This position may work in any of the jobs outlined below.

Lab Technician

• Collecting, inspecting, and testing olive fruit, olive paste, and olive oil samples to evaluate quality, composition, and compliance with established standards.
• Performing routine laboratory analyses, including oil content, moisture, and other bench-top analytical tests.
• Accurately recording, organizing, and reporting test results in a timely manner.
• Assisting with Research & Development initiatives related to olive oil production, processing, and quality improvement.
• Supporting the calibration, verification, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate test results.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Collaborating with Technical Services, Production, and Quality teams to support operational and quality objectives.
• Assisting with sample preparation, handling, and storage in accordance with laboratory procedures.

Custodian

• Executing cleaning and sanitation tasks using established work instructions, checklists, and reaction plans.
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, locker rooms, offices, production areas, hallways, and other common spaces.
• Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming and maintaining floors and surfaces, including windows, walls, and doors.
• Collecting and disposing of trash, recyclables, and industrial waste in accordance with company procedures.
• Restocking facility supplies including soap, paper towels, toilet paper and other consumables.
• Performing routine and deep cleaning activities, including equipment machinery wipe-downs and high cleaning, and other scheduled sanitation tasks.
• Operating and maintaining custodial equipment and using cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines; reporting equipment maintenance needs as necessary.
• Responding promptly to spills, accidents, and other emergency clean-up situations.
• Following all company safety policies, procedures and PPE requirements; Participating in safety training and reporting unsafe conditions or practices.
• Collaborating with facilities, maintenance, and operations teams to support a clean and safe environment, including special projects, facility events, and work within production areas as needed.

Sanitation

• Executing assigned tasks in accordance with established work instructions, checklists, reaction plans, and operational procedures while ensuring compliance with company.
• Performing routine detailed cleaning and sanitation of processing areas and equipment to support workplace safety, product quality, and equipment reliability.
• Collaborating with the Sanitation Lead, Milling Lead, and Maintenance Team to ensure equipment and production areas are cleaned and sanitized according to established schedules and operational needs.
• Performing pre-harvest and post-harvest sanitation activities in the Fruit Preparation Area, Milling Area, Grading Station, Scale Areas, Pomace Area, and other designated locations as required.
• Completing required pressure washer training and safely operating pressure washers, hoses, and related cleaning equipment to perform sanitation and cleaning tasks.
• Completing required scissor lift training and safely operating scissor lifts to support sanitation, cleaning, and maintenance access needs.
• Working closely with the Maintenance, Receiving, and Milling Teams to ensure equipment, tools, and change parts are properly cleaned, sanitized, and prepared for storage.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in compliance with food safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Complying with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; participating in safety training and promptly reporting unsafe conditions, hazards, or work practices.

The following responsibilities apply to all three assignments listed above:

• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced harvest environment.
• Cross-functional support as needed.
• Understand chemical performance using SDS and ensuring safety while using sanitation, cleaning or other chemicals.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent communicator amongst peers and with direct management.
• Ability to execute proper training protocols for cleanliness standards.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; moderate stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and moderate fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 25% or less sitting, 50% or more walking, and 50% or more standing. The job is performed under frequent temperature variations and in an outdoor environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 45 lbs. is required.
