Senior Scientific Data Engineer
Eurofins Agroscience Services North Carolina
Eurofins seeks a Senior Scientific Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines for processing complex chemical and environmental testing data. The role involves collaborating with machine learning engineers and chemists to build ETL infrastructure, data warehousing solutions, and MLOps platforms supporting analytical workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform raw chemistry data in multiple formats
- Develop optimized data models and manage data warehouse/data lake for ML feature engineering on time-series and spectral data
- Collaborate with ML engineers to containerize, deploy, and monitor ML models with automated retraining pipelines
- Implement data quality checks, validation, and governance to ensure integrity of chemical experiment data
- Develop internal tools and APIs for standardized data access and lab system integration
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field
- Expert-level Python proficiency with data engineering libraries (Pandas, NumPy)
- Hands-on cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Azure preferred
- Data orchestration tool experience: Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
- Strong SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Git and DevOps practices proficiency
- Prior experience processing scientific data (mass spectrometry, chromatography, LIMS/ELN)
