Chief Medical Informatics Officer

Optum Insight is seeking a Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) to serve as a crucial link between medical practice and information technology. This executive healthcare leader will ensure health IT systems are effectively designed, implemented, and utilized to support clinician workflows and enhance performance. The CMIO will guide the standardization and adoption of best practices across all facilities within the assigned account, contributing to improved patient outcomes and clinician well-being.

• Work collaboratively with other leaders within the MPP Provider Tech Services pillar
• Responsible for health informatics delivery to the client
• Remote work flexibility for those located in EST or CST

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the vision, direction, strategy, and culture of informatics in collaboration with other informatics and information services leaders
• Collaborate with account Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO), and Client Executive leadership to advance digital transformation and interoperability initiatives
• Provide strategic leadership in the development and application of informatics solutions and technologies to support all clinical domains
• Champion the adoption of innovative, evidence-based health IT solutions to enhance patient safety, care quality, and clinical decision-making
• Streamline clinical workflow and ensure optimization of electronic health records (EHRs) and other health technologies
• Utilize analytics to inform evidence-based practice, predictive modeling, and continuous quality improvement
• Serve as a change agent, fostering a culture of digital competency and innovation across providers and interdisciplinary teams
• Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, and ethical standards in medical informatics and data/AI governance

Compensation

• The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited medical school (MD or DO)
• Active license by a State Board, in good standing with a board certification in area of specialty
• Advanced training in informatics
• 10+ years leadership/management experience leading interdisciplinary teams, managing complex projects, and collaborating with executive stakeholders
• 10+ years of experience with analyzing health IT clinical workflows to identify, evaluate, and assess new care delivery technology
• 10+ years hands-on experience with electronic health records (EHRs), health IT implementation, workflow optimization, and data analytics
• Ability to travel up to 50% to client location
• Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
• Preferred: Clinical Informatics Board Certification (or board-eligible)
• Preferred: Proven experience in clinical informatics leadership, digital transformation, and health IT implementation
