AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. About the team
S3 Index Routing - S3 Web Server provides the frontend API services to our public customers. As the next layer in our architecture, S3 Index provides the reliable and scalable key-value metadata services for objects stored in S3. The Routing services sit directly at the frontend of Index, and is the critical junction where every request lands first, before being directed to the right destination. Formed from two critical charters - Routing APIs and Caching & Scalability, we own the full routing stack: from handling and directing customer requests through intelligent routing mechanisms, to caching frequently accessed keys, throttling to protect downstream services, and ensuring data consistency across Index. This empowers us to deliver a cohesive, end-to-end customer experience — reducing latency and improving reliability. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 4+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
- 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree or equivalent- Strong operational excellence mindset with experience reducing operational burden through automation.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered coding assistants and agentic development tools to accelerate software development workflows — including code generation, automated testing, code review, debugging, and documentation.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving technical best practices across a team.
- Experience with large-scale distributed storage or data systems. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
