The Shrewsbury Senior Center is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and organized Food Pantry Coordinator to lead one of our fastest-growing community programs. This is more than managing a food pantry. It's about helping older adults and local residents access nutritious food, coordinating volunteers, building partnerships with local businesses and organizations, organizing food drives, and finding creative ways to strengthen food security throughout our community. Every day is different—and every day you'll know your work truly mattered. What You'll Do Managing the daily operation of the food pantry. Welcoming clients and assisting them with food selection in a respectful and supportive environment. Maintaining food inventory and ensuring proper storage and food safety practices. Coordinating food donations from community organizations, grocery stores, farms, and local businesses. Recruiting, training, and supporting a dedicated team of volunteers. Planning food drives and community outreach events. Building partnerships that expand the pantry's reach and resources. Tracking pantry usage and preparing monthly reports. Connecting clients with additional Council on Aging programs and community resources. We're Looking for Someone Who Is Passionate about helping others Organized and dependable. Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excited to grow and strengthen an important community program. What You’ll Bring High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working in customer service, nonprofits, food pantries, social services, volunteer management, or community programs required Strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of food safety practices is helpful. Valid Massachusetts driver's license required. Work Environment The Food Pantry Coordinator will work in a pantry setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, especially in storage areas for refrigerated and frozen items. This role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting food items weighing up to 50 pounds. The environment can be fast-paced, particularly during peak distribution times or special events. Flexibility in hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be necessary to accommodate food drives or emergency assistance programs. Interacting with the public, volunteers, and community partners is a key aspect of the role, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.
