POSITION SUMMARY This position performs genetic/genomic testing in accordance with CAP (College of America Pathologists) standards in an accurate and timely manner. Testing may be of high complexity and may include:
- Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH)
- Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- Cytogenetic chromosome analysis
- Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
- Pharmacogenomics (PGx)
- Chromosomal Microarray (CMA)
- Ability to use good and sound judgment, demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and perform well in supervisor's absence.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays, as required and/or on rotation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-developed attention to detail and organization skills.
- Proficiency in one or more genetics/genomics laboratory processes and knowledge of laboratory practices.
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or another accredited four-year degree with equivalent coursework meeting CLIA qualifications for high-complexity testing personnel.
- One (1) year of experience in a genetics/genomics laboratory.
- ASCP certification in cytogenetics, molecular biology, or medical technology.
- Additional experience as genetics technologist.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
