Registered Nurse RN Associate Director PICU

Primary City/State: Mesa, Arizona. Department: Pediatrics 2nd Floor – Pediatric ICU. Work Shift: Day. Job Category: Nursing. Schedule: Full‑time days, Monday through Friday with an on‑call rotation with the other Associate Directors. Attendance at meetings and working with night staff may require schedule adjustments. Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic nursing leader who exemplifies clinical excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care. In this role, the PICU Associate Director provides leadership and operational oversight for nursing services, ensuring safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care across our Pediatric General and PICU departments. Key Responsibilities Manage patient‑centered nursing care for designated patient populations, serving as a real‑time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians on escalated problem‑solving. Oversee unit operations to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and optimal resource utilization. Lead change by developing, implementing, and evaluating quality and process improvement initiatives in partnership with the director. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and institutional policies. Facilitate communication of system, regional, facility, and department initiatives. Manage and develop operational and capital budgets and associated resources. Support staff leadership development through shared leadership models and career advancement opportunities. Lead selection, orientation, onboarding, and retention, including coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions. Manage single or multiple clinical units to ensure excellent patient care and develop entry‑level nurse managers. Minimum Qualifications BSN or MSN required for all new hires; BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion. Current RN license in the state of practice and BLS certification. At least two years of clinical management experience with a strong knowledge of clinical care management. Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, communication, influence, decision‑making, and analytical assessment. Knowledge of specialty area and ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards. For LTC settings: familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease and developmental disabilities. Behavioral Health settings: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required at hire and must be maintained. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing.
