About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Neuro Stepdown & EMU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Strong Neuro experience, NIHSS in hand at the time of submission, history of caring for stroke patients, experience with higher acuity neuroscience patients, experience with EVDs preferred. Description: The role requires caring for higher acuity neuroscience patients, including those with strokes and seizures. The nurse-patient ratio for Stepdown is 1:3. Registered nurses may encounter patients requiring monitoring and managing following procedures such as craniotomies. Titration of drips is performed only by physician orders and nurses will receive education on any protocols for titration. The unit operates with respiratory therapy available 24/7. Registered nurses are not required to have vent experience as respiratory therapy manages ventilator settings. There is telemetry on the unit, but registered nurses do not have to read strips. Nurses are expected to work 3 shifts in a row, though flexibility is required. Weekend and holiday rotations are mandatory, with an expectation to participate in these schedules. Charge nurses are present 24/7 to support the team. The unit includes nursing aides available for support. The dress code includes royal blue scrubs. Registered nurses should be prepared to float between specific units as needed.
