Job Overview A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Agent/Advisor in Chicago to join their patent counseling, prosecution, and litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have a degree in software, computer science, or a related field, and possess substantive industry experience. Duties Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses. Analyze patent and scientific papers to assist attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Advise lawyers on technology issues in preparation for depositions. Requirements Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English. Broad scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering. Expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning is strongly preferred. Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others. Eligibility Eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Education Degree in software, computer science, or a related field. Certifications Meet requirements for registration as a patent agent. Skills Technical, written, and verbal communication skills. Scientific knowledge in computer science or electrical engineering.
