About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong telemetry skills Description: Unit: MedSurg/Telemetry. The unit is divided into smaller sections with specific bed counts. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1 to 4. The electronic medical record system is Cerner. Charge nursing responsibilities are not required. Nurse aides are available on each shift. Weekend work is mandatory every other weekend. Holidays will be rotated in with permanent staff. Scrub color is navy. Telemetry equipment includes Phillips monitors. A monitor technician is present on the unit. Nurses will be responsible for reading ECG strips. Common drips include amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed-rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine for renal dosing. Ventilator management is not applicable, but bipap or cpap may be used. Clientists or intensivists are available on-call after hours. There is no IV team on site. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy support is not available around the clock. Shifts are 12 hours from 6 PM to 6 AM. Floating between unit sections is required. Floor-specific orientation lasting 6 hours is provided. Common diagnoses and types of patients include surgical, orthopedic, medical, and those with cardiac-related issues or higher acuity. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during the assignment period. Charting is done using Cerner.
