About the Position

Job Title: Neuro Stepdown Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Stepdown or Tele Unit. Travel experience is preferred. License: Current Registered Nurse License. Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable with patient ratios between 1:3-5. Experience in charting systems, specifically Epic. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience with adult and geriatric patient age groups. Description: We are seeking a Neuro Stepdown Nurse. This unit specializes in stroke and other neuro-related diagnoses. The nurse will manage patients requiring stepdown care, with ratios of 3:1 and telemetry patients at 4:1. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Skills required include managing central lines, tracheostomies, and administering blood products. The candidate must be familiar with care protocols for seizures, renal failure, and substance withdrawal. Additional responsibilities include pre/post neurosurgery care and managing high flow nasal cannula. The unit consists of 30 beds, with a daily census of approximately 29 patients. Weekend work is required every other weekend. The position may involve on-call duties as needed.
