For additional information about The Second City please visit: Position Summary: The Production Coordinator is a hands-on, Chicago-based role that provides day-to-day production and operational support across Second City’s businesses, including Resident Stages, Second City Works, onsite events, and venue operations. Working closely with the Managing Director and Production teams, this role helps ensure that projects, performances, workshops, corporate engagements, rentals, and special events are executed smoothly from planning through completion. The Production Coordinator will manage logistics, coordinate talent and vendors, maintain project documentation, advance events, and provide onsite support including on nights and weekends. This is a highly collaborative role that requires someone who is comfortable and confident moving between projects, departments, and priorities with a high level of organization and attention to detail. Strong communication skills are essential to success in this role. The Production Coordinator will regularly interact with clients, talent, vendors, and internal teams across The Second City, serving as a reliable onsite resource and helping to keep projects and people moving forward. Key Responsibilities Production, Event, and Client Management Work closely with the team to support the planning and execution of projects across departments and create a seamless client and guest experience. Maintain accurate records, documentation, databases, calendars, and project tracking systems throughout the project lifecycle. Serve as an onsite point of contact for clients, vendors, talent, and event organizers, escalating issues and questions to the appropriate team members as needed. Ensure visiting groups have access to required spaces, equipment, talent, and other resources. Assist with event setup, room configurations, event transitions, and teardown for business functions, rentals, workshops, and special events. Assist with travel arrangements, meals, refreshments, and other hospitality needs for talent, clients, and internal teams. Cross-reference calendars, space reservations, and event schedules to identify and resolve potential conflicts. Ensure event signage, screens, and other venue communications are updated as needed. Talent, Contracts & Administration Work with Accounting, Payroll, Human Resources, and union representatives as needed to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Assist with talent payroll and union-related reporting and documentation. Maintain organized talent records, contract files, production archives, and shared folder structures. Help maintain cast area and other production spaces, coordinate meals, and other talent services as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management, Theater, Entertainment Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of relevant industry experience preferred. Stage management, production management, event production, or live entertainment experience preferred. Able to work a flexible / fluid schedule that includes being onsite both nights and weekends. Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to communicate information successfully across all levels and different types of constituents (customers, colleagues, peers, executive-level leadership, etc.) Ability to successfully deliver on small tasks and larger-scale projects while managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously. Comfortable working independently while also collaborating across multiple departments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with payroll or talent payments is a plus. Familiarity with Actors’ Equity Association, union agreements, and/or other applicable entertainment unions is an asset. Proficiency with common workplace tools and project management systems.
