The above hiring range represents the University\'s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Under the general direction of the Sr. Clinical Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator II, RN is responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care across two faculty practice sites and four divisions, including hospital-sponsored teaching clinic. Tasks include but are not limited to coordinating patient care; anesthetizing by local injection; assisting in surgical procedures; developing a nurse-patient/family relationship; and assessing and managing patients within all adult age groups from young adult to geriatrics. In addition to primary responsibilities within the Division of Dermatologic surgery, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator III, RN will be expected to assist as needed in other divisions within the Department of Dermatology. Responsibilities Collaborate with physicians in the assessment, evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with dermatologic conditions. Perform surgical procedures including local anesthesia, punch and shave biopsies, suture removal, and wound care. Prepare, dilute, and draw up medications as needed for use in the faculty practice and Resident Clinic. Assist with dermatology medical procedures including laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, and cosmetic procedures. Assess patients using all available physical and diagnostic data, incorporating medical history, and evaluate patient status and progress with the current plan of care. Provide coverage and assess patients during and after selected therapies; perform CPR. Attend staff meetings, patient support meetings, and continuing education activities pertaining to the specialty as appropriate. Participate in all quality improvement/process improvement initiatives. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain accurate medical histories through effective interviewing techniques, ensure thorough and timely documentation in the medical record, and provide patient and family education regarding disease state, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up care. Perform phone triage as appropriate and provide follow-up guidance and direction to patients based on the situation. Participate in sign-out activities and patient follow-up. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agency standards (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO, DOH, HIPAA, billing compliance, etc.). Perform diagnostic testing and analysis of results. Order appropriate laboratory supplies, follow up on results, answer pre- and post-operative questions, gather data, and act as a liaison. Provide cross-coverage across clinical areas and perform other duties as assigned to support patient care, clinic operations, and departmental needs. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience. BLS certified. Current New York State RN license. Preferred Qualifications 0-2 years related experience. Clinical rotation experience associated with BSN degree programs will be applied toward related experience requirements. Other Requirements Knowledge of medical safety practices and ability to evaluate existing standards and implement new policies and procedures. Knowledge of current clinical best practices and clinical state-of-the-art procedures. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills (EPIC electronic medical record, Microsoft Office). Ability to work effectively both independently and within diverse workgroups. Ability to identify problems, research and recommend solutions, develop, and maintain quality systems, and exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and independent decision-making.
