EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director/Administrator is responsible for the overall direction of the hospice services. He/she is responsible for the employment of qualified hospice personnel; is responsible for the provision of hospice services, directly, and the delegation to and coordination of hospice personnel evaluations; is responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guide¬lines. The Executive Director/Administrator establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy. Essential Job Functions Responsible for operational planning and budgeting. Responsible for insuring organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. Responsible for monitoring business operations to insure financial stability. Responsible for valuating hospice services and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives. Accountable for conflict and complaint management and resolution. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective channels of communication including integration or technology, as applicable. Ensures hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices. Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing. Accountable for staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and performance improvement. Ensures that interdisciplinary care is provided. Ensures supportive services are available to personnel. Ensures coordination with other departments, services and senior management, as appropriate. Ensures staff and organization stay current on local and national hospice issues and trends. Ensures that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes. Directs staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of service to patients. Ensures appropriate staff supervision during all service hours. Monitoring service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care. Ensures services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice. Monitors operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals. Ensures appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the Governing Body. Ensures adequate space, equipment and supplies are available. Ensures actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of hospice services and personnel. Ensures that structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care Ensures collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services. Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained Administrator on-call responsibilities as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications (Minimum qualifications will be considered required unless specifically stated otherwise) Experience Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in health care and management. Experience in a hospice care preferred. Understands hospice philosophy, and issues of death/dying. Education And Training A bachelor’s degree in business administration. A master’s degree in a health care-related field preferred. License, Certification & Registration Valid driver’s license. Other Requirements Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel. Has an ability to deal tactfully with the community. Has knowledge of corporate business management. Understands hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group. Intimate knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification. Working Conditions Uniform / Dress Requirements (Beyond those requirements outlined within Policy No. C:3-015.1):None Work Environment Working Conditions: May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Travel required. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions. Must drive in various weather conditions on roads of varying degrees and repair. OSHA exposure category: Category II Category I - Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues. Category II - Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, but employment may require unplanned Category I tasks (when performing Clinical tasks) Category III - Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would not be required to perform Category I tasks. #J-18808-Ljbffr
