About the Opportunity

A well-established national, multi-office insurance defense law firm is seeking a Kentucky-licensed Associate Attorney to join its General Liability Defense practice in Lexington, Kentucky.

The ideal candidate will have 3–10 years of litigation experience , preferably in general liability or insurance defense.

Attorneys with strong civil litigation backgrounds who are interested in transitioning into general liability defense are also encouraged to apply. The firm is open to providing training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle general liability and insurance defense litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence.
• Prepare initial case evaluations, interim reports, pretrial reports, and appellate documents.
• Draft discovery requests and responses.
• Prepare and respond to discovery-related motions.
• Draft motions for summary judgment.
• Attend hearings, court appearances, and other legal proceedings.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
• Conduct legal research and assist with litigation strategy.
• Manage case deadlines and communicate with clients regarding case developments.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky Bar license in good standing required.
• 3–10 years of litigation experience preferred.
• General Liability or Insurance Defense experience preferred but not required.
• Attorneys with civil litigation experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and work collaboratively with a legal team.
