Volunteer

Quantum Leap Farm is always in need of the precious labor required to take care of our farm, horses and clients. As a volunteer, you are an important member of our “Herd”!

• Horse experience is desired, but not required
• Individuals and group volunteers welcome
• You need to be at least 16 years old
• We respect the right of confidentiality for all our clients and volunteers. Our staff, volunteers, board members and anyone else providing services to Quantum Leap Farm must agree to keep confidential all medical, social, referral, personal and financial information regarding a client or another volunteer and his or her family.

Leading

Guiding a specially trained horse before, during and after a rider is mounted, as directed by the riding instructor. Volunteers undergo training to ensure their comfort and confidence in horse handling and leading prior to being assigned this duty.

Sidewalking

Walking beside a rider who is mounted, helping to ensure his or her safety and security while in the saddle. Sidewalkers are specially trained to avoid injury in the event of a fall or emergency dismount. Generally, sidewalkers are not asked to walk in excess of two 50-minute sessions per morning and are given breaks between sessions.

Grooming

Brushing and cleaning a horse for a rider, taking care of a horse after a ride is completed. Special training for this task is also provided.

Barn chores, greeting riders and their companions, preparing riders, and tidying up
