Position Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

FTE: 1.0

Start Date: Fall 2026

Job Summary: Educate, plan, teach, facilitate and evaluate the students of GFW Public Schools in the educational process as defined by local and state department regulations and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning and Preparation

• Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy
• Demonstrate knowledge of students
• Select instructional goals
• Demonstrate knowledge of resources
• Design coherent instruction
• Assess student learning

Classroom Environment

• Create an environment of respect and rapport
• Establish a culture for learning
• Manage classroom procedures
• Manage student behavior
• Organize physical space

Instructional Interaction

• Communicate clearly and accurately
• Use questioning and discussion techniques
• Engage students in learning
• Provide feedback to students
• Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness

Professional Responsibilities

• Reflect on teaching
• Maintain accurate records
• Communicate with families
• Contribute to the school and district
• Grow and develop professionally
• Show professionalism

Qualification Requirements:

• Degree:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Education or relevant instructional subject area
• License:
  • Licensed teachers in the State of MN with appropriate licensure for assigned areas of responsibility or proof of pending approved licensure
• Experience:
  • Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary:
  • Range: $45,500 - $73,500
  • Salary placement is based on experience and education level as per district guidelines
• Benefits:
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision insurances, district-provided life insurance and long-term disability insurance, and supplemental insurance options, in addition to 403b plans.
