Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Southeast Delco School District will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations in assessing an employee's ability to carry out or otherwise meet the job requirements set forth herein in a satisfactory manner. Duties & Responsibilities Conduct and document daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the assigned van including checking fluids, air pressure gauges, temperature gauges and other systems; maintain vehicle log. Abide by the preventative maintenance program for school vans as required by PA state law and the Transportation Department. Ensure that students enter the van safely, are seated appropriately and use seat belts. Transport students safely to and from school or other destinations as assigned by the Transportation Director, while following all posted speed limits and safe driving practices. Maintain required records including student counts, mileage, and others as required. Perform practice emergency evacuation drills as required. Conduct daily fueling and cleaning of assigned van including cleaning windows, removing trash, and cleaning floors. Attend in‑service workshops and other department meetings scheduled by the Director of Transportation. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation. Required Skills & Abilities Ability to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32° or above 100°. May be exposed to atmospheric conditions that include fumes and dust. Must be cooperative, congenial, and service‑oriented. Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to read and write. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to organize tasks. Ability to exercise good judgment. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to work well with students. Education & Experience You must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Driving record must be free of tickets and accidents. Physical Requirements Ability to reach above and below the waist. Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion. Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, and crawl. Ability to lift/carry supplies weighing 50 lbs. or more. Ability to drive up to eighty percent (80%) of workday. Level of Compensation This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff employees. The starting salary for this position is $21.75/hour. After the completion of the 90‑day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $22.25/hour.
