Location 715 Front Street,Meridian, MS, 39301,United States Job Category outside, sales Employee Type FT Exempt Description Outside Sales Job Summary Outside Sales is responsible for developing and managing customer relationships, generating sales within an assigned territory, and supporting customers through quoting, ordering, and fulfillment processes. This role serves as the primary point of contact for commercial and industrial contractor accounts and is accountable for sales growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, product knowledge, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams. Essential Functions Sales & Territory Management Develop, manage, and grow relationships with new and existing commercial and industrial contractor accounts within an assigned territory. Identify customer needs, solicit orders, and drive revenue growth while maintaining profitability targets. Execute sales strategies aligned with company goals and territory objectives. Maintain ownership of assigned accounts, ensuring consistent communication and follow-up. Quoting, Ordering & Account Support Receive customer requests and prepare accurate quotes in coordination with internal sales and operations teams. Place and manage material orders, monitor order status, and communicate updates to customers. Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, and supplier partners to support order fulfillment and delivery timelines. Assist in resolving order issues, discrepancies, and customer concerns. Maintain current knowledge of product offerings, pricing, procedures, inventory availability, backorder status, and value-added services. Educate customers on product applications and solutions that support their project needs. Stay informed on market trends, customer activity, and competitive offerings within the territory. Profitability & Performance Accountability Meet or exceed assigned sales goals and profitability expectations. Accurately record sales activities, customer interactions, and program participation (including IMARK or similar initiatives). Exercise independent judgment and discretion to support pricing, service, and customer engagement decisions within defined authority. Partner with internal sales, operations, and supplier teams to deliver a high level of customer service. Develop resolution strategies for customer issues in collaboration with appropriate internal and supplier resources. Represent the company professionally and ethically in all customer interactions. Maintain accurate documentation related to sales activity and customer accounts. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the department manager or leadership team. Required Skills Strong customer service and relationship-management skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams. Self-motivated with strong time-management and organizational skills. Basic proficiency with computer systems and sales-related software. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. Electrical material knowledge is preferred. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Prior sales or electrical distribution experience preferred. Valid driver’s license with an approved motor vehicle record. Compliance with company drug-free workplace requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, crouch, reach, grasp, and climb as required. Ability to see with sufficient visual acuity to perform job duties. Ability to travel locally within the assigned territory (up to 10%).
